Bracebridge Bay Trail

bracebridge-things-to-do-waterfalls

The Bracebridge Bay Trail is the town’s prettiest history lesson: a leisurely 1.3-kilometre walk along the Muskoka River and around Bracebridge Bay, where ten information plaques mark points of interest along the way — including Woodchester Villa, the town’s famous octagonal house, and Bracebridge Falls itself, the wide curtain of water below the Silver Bridge.

It’s an easy, family-friendly stroll with benches and river views throughout, starting from trail parking at Bracebridge Bay Park on Wharf Road, with access also from Manitoba Street or Ecclestone Drive. The route pairs the town’s natural centrepiece — the falls, lit up at night — with its built heritage, telling the story of how Bracebridge grew up around this bend of the river.

For visitors, it’s the perfect first walk in town: short enough for an afternoon, rich enough to orient you, and ending where Bracebridge’s story began — at the water.
