Bracebridge Falls is the sight the town is built around: a wide curtain of water dropping through a dam and over a rock ledge on the North Branch of the Muskoka River, right below the historic downtown at the Silver Bridge. In high flow, the sound carries to the main street. It’s the trademark view of a town that calls itself Muskoka’s waterfall capital, and one of its “Big Three” falls alongside Wilson’s Falls and High Falls, all within minutes of downtown.
Best viewed from Bracebridge Bay Park on the north bank or Kelvin Grove Park on the south, the falls are free and accessible year-round, with a family-friendly walking trail, benches, and two free parking lots nearby. The Bracebridge Bay Trail runs alongside with ten information plaques telling the area’s history, and at night the falls and bridge are lit up — a noted evening sight.
One access note: Silver Bridge construction and flood damage have closed a portion of the Trans Canada Trail at Kelvin Grove Park, so check current access before promising the full loop — but the falls themselves remain viewable from Bracebridge Bay Park, and they’re worth the stop in any season.
