Every July, Annie Williams Memorial Park fills with the largest outdoor art event in rural Ontario. The Muskoka Arts & Crafts Annual Summer Show — organized by Muskoka Arts & Crafts, one of Ontario’s oldest arts organizations, as its largest annual fundraiser — has run since July 1962, drawing more than 10,000 visitors a year to Bracebridge over three days in mid-to-late July.
It’s a juried show, and the jury is picky: over 400 artisans apply each year, and 200 are chosen, spanning jewellery, textiles, sculpture, pottery, fine art and other handcrafted work, all displayed outdoors under the park’s trees. Beyond the art, the weekend adds live local music, interactive art installations, kids’ programming and food vendors — a full festival wrapped around a serious art fair.
For collectors, it’s a pilgrimage; for everyone else, it’s a summer Saturday done right: art you can touch, makers you can meet, and a riverside park at its best. Admission is ticketed at the gate or through the organization’s app.
