Bracebridge Farmers’ Market

images6-1

Saturday morning in Bracebridge belongs to the market. The Bracebridge Farmers Market sets up every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. in Memorial Park on Manitoba Street, running from the Victoria Day long weekend through to the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend — a weekly seasonal fixture, not a one-off event, in the same pattern as Gravenhurst’s Wednesday market.

Booths ring the park pavilion in a square, and the offerings are the region’s pantry: fresh fruit and vegetable produce, local cheese and meats, locally grown flowers, and artisanal handmade goods, with live entertainment threading through the morning. Vendors have included Spy Apple Cider, Muskoka Honey Bee Products, The Muskoka Pot Pie Company and Manitoulin Island sauces — the kind of names that make the market a tasting tour as much as a shopping trip.

Street parking on Manitoba Street keeps it easy, and the downtown location means a market morning can roll straight into the shops and cafés of the main street. For cottagers and locals alike, it’s the Saturday ritual that marks the season.
