The Sutton Fair and Horse Show is one of Georgina’s most enduring summer traditions, bringing four days of agricultural competition, family entertainment, midway excitement, and community celebration to the Sutton Fairgrounds each August. Generations of local families have attended the fair, giving it the comfortable atmosphere of an annual reunion while welcoming visitors who want to experience the character of a traditional Ontario agricultural event.

Horse and livestock shows remain central to the fair’s identity. Visitors can watch skilled riders, handlers, farmers, and young agricultural participants present their animals in competitions that reflect the region’s rural heritage. Exhibition areas showcase local produce, flowers, baking, preserves, photography, crafts, and homegrown talent, turning everyday skills into colourful displays of creativity and friendly competition.

Beyond the agricultural exhibits, the fairgrounds come alive with midway rides, carnival games, live music, food vendors, and activities for children. Georgina Idol provides a stage for local performers, while community programs such as the Fair Ambassador competition and Baby Show celebrate residents of different ages. Families can move easily between animal barns, entertainment areas, competition halls, and the midway, making each visit feel full without requiring a rigid schedule.

The fair’s motorsport events deliver some of its loudest and most memorable moments. The truck and tractor pull showcases power and precision as competitors attempt to haul increasingly difficult loads. Demo cross and the demolition derby bring roaring engines, battered vehicles, and enthusiastic crowds to the grandstand for evenings of unpredictable action.

What makes the Sutton Fair special is the combination of spectacle and genuine community involvement. Farmers, volunteers, performers, local businesses, competitors, and families all contribute to an event that feels deeply connected to Sutton and the wider Lake Simcoe area. Whether you arrive for the horses, the exhibits, the midway, or the grandstand action, the Sutton Fair offers an energetic celebration of rural Ontario life.
