The South River Friendly Circle walk is a community walking activity organized in the village of South River, Ontario. It is run through the South River Friendly Circle, which is a local active living club for seniors and community members based out of 10 Isabella Street. This gathering offers participants a simple and safe way to exercise, meet neighbors, and enjoy fresh air together.

The walk is typically held once to twice a week, though exact days and times can shift depending on the season and the weather. The main goal is to promote regular physical activity without placing too much strain on the body. Walking is very gentle on the joints, and moving as a group makes it much easier to stay motivated. The organizers plan routes at a relaxed, comfortable pace so everyone can join in without feeling rushed. Along the trail, walkers catch up with old friends, welcome newcomers, and share local news. This friendly social aspect is just as valuable as the workout, helping to keep community members active, engaged, and connected.

Routes take advantage of the quiet, natural beauty around South River. Participants often stroll along flat neighborhood roads, wander through peaceful local parks, or take in views near the water. During the winter, the group sticks to well-cleared town streets or moves indoors to prevent slips on snow and ice.

The atmosphere is always welcoming, casual, and supportive. Anyone can participate with just a comfortable pair of walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Because schedules adjust throughout the year, members can easily verify the current weekly times by reaching out to the club by phone at 705-386-0322 or sending an email to southriverfriendlycircle@gmail.com. In every season, the walk remains a cherished routine for local health, friendship, and village spirit.
