Trestle Brewing Company

download-19-3

Trestle Brewing Company sits at 9 Great North Road in downtown Parry Sound, on the waterfront where the Seguin River flows into Georgian Bay beneath the historic CPR Trestle Bridge that gives the brewery its name. It is an independently owned craft brewery and gastropub, and the setting alone makes it worth a visit, with a riverside patio and Biergarten looking out over the river, the trestle bridge and the bay.

The brewmaster brews a wide range of all-natural craft beers on site. Regulars mention the Trestle Golden Ale, the Hole in the Wall Helles Lager and a popular raspberry sour, alongside rotating seasonal batches. For non-beer drinkers there are Ontario VQA wines, Ontario craft cider and non-alcoholic options. Beer flights are a good way to taste through the lineup, and cans are available to take home.

The kitchen serves hearty gastropub food built around locally sourced northern products. Favourites include the Reuben sandwich, pulled pork poutine, the Dirty Bird chicken sandwich, a Bavarian soft pretzel and a Georgian Bay trout board. Portions are generous and the fries get special mention in reviews.

It is a popular spot, so booking ahead is wise on summer evenings and weekends. The taproom also hosts occasional live music. Hours run roughly 11 a.m. to 8 or 9 p.m. daily, varying by day and season. Whether you come for a pint on the patio after a day on the water or a full dinner with the family, it is one of the liveliest gathering places on the Parry Sound waterfront.
