SWS Boatworks – Lake Rosseau Marina

download-1-3

If Port Carling is the Hub of the Lakes, SWS Boatworks’ Lake Rosseau marina is one of its busiest spokes. Tucked beside the government docks in the heart of downtown, this is the fun, family-facing half of SWS Muskoka — the spot where the boating day meets the beach-town buzz.

SWS — short for Summer Water Sports — has deep Muskoka roots. It began as “Summer Ski” thrilling guests at Clevelands House back in 1960, grew into a watersports institution, and has been run by the Newlands family since 2006. While the company’s Lake Muskoka location across the river handles sales, service and storage, the Lake Rosseau side is all about getting out on the water: it’s home to the SWS ski school and the popular kids ski camp, where young boaters learn to carve behind the boat under expert instruction.

In summer the docks hum. Gas docks keep boaters fuelled (by appointment), the surf shop stocks boards and gear, and seasonal pop-up shops — names like Roots, Northern Bronco and Beau Lake have all set up here — make it a destination even for landlubbers. Grab a snack, watch the boats come and go, and soak in the downtown waterfront scene.

SWS is also the crew behind Muskoka’s famous Tuesday-night ski shows in Bala, where elite waterskiers, wakeboarders and flyboarders perform free shows through the summer — the same energy you’ll feel at the marina. Family-owned, proudly local, and open through the boating season, the Lake Rosseau location is the easygoing front door to a day on the big lake.
