Hanna Park is Port Carling’s beloved waterfront playground, a leafy stretch of parkland where the Indian River widens toward Lake Rosseau. On a summer afternoon it hums with the particular joy of a small-town beach: kids splashing in the shallows, families spreading picnics on the grass, and boaters tying up after a cruise down the river.
The beach is the headline act. Soft sand slopes gently into calm, shallow water, making it one of the safest and most popular swimming spots in the area — a particular favourite with parents of young children. Lifeguards are not on duty, so swimmers keep an eye on each other, but the sheltered shoreline stays gentle even on breezy days.
Beyond the sand, the park packs in plenty to do. A playground has entertained local kids for over 25 years (it’s getting a full rebuild, with a brand-new playground set to open in spring 2027), and there’s a basketball court, a volleyball court and a covered pavilion for shade or a rainy-day picnic. The park is easy to reach by car or by boat, with docks for visitors arriving by water.
Hanna Park also serves as one of Port Carling’s community gathering spots, hosting seasonal events and markets through the warmer months. Come in the evening and the mood shifts — the crowds thin, the light goes golden on the river, and it becomes one of the loveliest sunset-watching perches in the village.
