Some resorts have a view of a landmark. High Falls Bay has the landmark. High Falls Bay Cottages, Camping & Waterpark sits on the Muskoka River at High Falls Bay, north of Bracebridge, where the main falls drop some 50 feet with crests stretching up to 100 feet wide — the resort bills it as the “Niagara of the North,” and whether or not you accept the title, the scale is real. Three smaller falls ring the bay’s perimeter, reachable by scenic walking trails on the property, and guests fall asleep listening to the water.
The stay itself comes in three flavours: chalet rentals from one to five bedrooms, camping and RV sites in two settings — beachfront sites right on the bay, and quieter wilderness sites along the river — plus rentable domes and upgraded sites overlooking the falls. Around it all, 1,500 feet of sandy beach encircles the bay, and the beachfront waterpark sells day passes on-site, so day visitors are welcome too: all-day access to the beaches, paddleboats, kayaks and water toys, with discounted passes for campers and cottagers.
Beyond the beach, the resort offers boat rides on the river and out to the falls (the falls are visible and reachable by kayak), hiking, fishing, picnicking, and wedding and event hosting. Pets are allowed for an extra charge. It’s a summer-season resort in practice — come for the water, stay for the sound of the falls, and let Bracebridge’s grandest waterfall be your backyard.
