The Bala Falls Pub has been pouring pints in the shadow of the falls since 2002, and its building has been feeding Bala far longer than that. The address has worn many hats over the decades: the Eldorado, then the Bob Inn — famous for its burgers and milkshakes — then a dress shop, then the Kee Café, before settling into its current life as a gastropub. It sits right next door to the legendary Kee to Bala, which tells you everything about the neighbourhood.
Under owners Jacinta Cowan and David Fisher, who took over in 2018, it’s become a proper community local. The kitchen turns out hand-made burgers and fish and chips that regulars swear by, backed by a solid craft beer selection and takeout for cottage nights. It’s family-friendly, and the spacious backyard patio comes with its own water access — arrive by boat, stay for dinner.
Hours run most days from late morning into the evening, with a holiday closure over Christmas and the New Year. In a village packed with seasonal spots, the Bala Falls Pub is the kind of year-round anchor locals rely on: good food, cold beer, and a patio where the conversation lasts as long as the daylight.
