Mortimer’s Marina

Burnegie Bay

Mortimer’s Marina is one of those places that feels like the living memory of Muskoka boating. This historic family-run marina sits on the shores of Lake Muskoka between Bala and Port Carling, and generations of cottagers have fuelled up, stored boats and swapped stories on its docks.

It’s a full-service working marina: boat servicing, fuel and propane exchange, winter storage, and even short-term float-plane docking for visitors arriving by air. But Mortimer’s has always been more than a service yard. The docks host morning yoga, Pilates and sculpt sessions in summer, live music drifts across the water on event nights, and the coffee, smoothie and ice cream bar makes it a destination in its own right — the kind of spot where a fuel stop turns into an afternoon.

The marina recently found a second life on screen: it was the signature waterfront location for the Prime Video series Sterling Point, with its docks, footbridge and island views standing in as the show’s fictional marina. Fans of the series can visit the real thing during the season and stand on the same boards the cast did.

Through it all, Mortimer’s has kept its community soul — patrons talk about “the sounds of summer” and familiar faces returning year after year. For boaters on Lake Muskoka, it’s both a practical essential and a beloved instituion
