Some beaches you visit; Muskoka Beach Park is the one Gravenhurst families actually live at. This small Town-run park sits on Lake Muskoka a short drive north of downtown along Muskoka Beach Road, and its secret is the water itself: a gradual, sandy walkout that stays shallow for hundreds of metres, knee-deep far from shore, making it one of the most toddler-friendly swims in the area — with clear water that keeps the grown-ups happy too.

The park faces northwest across the lake, which earns it a second reputation: it’s one of the area’s best sunset spots, the day ending in colour over open water. Amenities are simple and sufficient — picnic tables, seasonal washrooms, swimming docks — and parking is free, though limited, so arrive early on hot weekends and bring your own chairs. There’s no lifeguard; this is an old-fashioned supervise-your-own swim, the way Muskoka beaches have always been.

Not to be confused with the supervised, facility-rich Gull Lake beach across town, Muskoka Beach Park is the quiet local favourite: sand, shallow water, and a sunset, five minutes from town.
