Clay Commons Craft Club!

a14

Clay Commons Craft Club offers a relaxed midweek space for people who want to make something with their hands without committing to a formal class. Held at Clay Commons in Port Hope, the weekly gathering is built around creativity, conversation, and the simple pleasure of working alongside others. Guests can arrive with a project already underway, experiment with a new idea, or use the studio as a reason to finally begin something they have been meaning to try.

The evening is intentionally open-ended. Shared tools and materials may include beads, watercolours, drawing supplies, and other craft essentials, while participants are also welcome to bring their own knitting, sketching, collage, embroidery, or personal art projects. Because everyone works at their own pace, the atmosphere feels less like instruction and more like a welcoming creative clubhouse. Beginners can explore without pressure, while experienced makers can enjoy uninterrupted time and the energy that comes from being surrounded by other creative people.

On many Craft Club nights, guests can choose a bisque pottery piece to paint in the studio. The pottery is purchased separately, with painting materials and firing included, allowing participants to create a finished mug, bowl, ornament, or decorative piece. Select evenings may also feature clay hand-building, giving visitors an opportunity to shape and construct their own work without using a pottery wheel.

Craft Club takes place on Wednesday evenings and requires advance registration. It is an appealing option for friends planning a creative night out, solo visitors hoping to meet people, or anyone seeking a calmer alternative to a conventional evening activity. More than a workshop, Clay Commons Craft Club is an invitation to slow down, try something playful, and become part of Port Hope’s growing creative community.
