The name is a fib, and a charming one: Burger Boys on Main is not on Main Street at all. It’s a one-of-a-kind concession stand in Gull Lake Rotary Park in Gravenhurst, serving park-goers, beach crowds and market shoppers from its spot at 405 Brock Street — and it’s become a local favourite precisely because of where it sits.

The specialty is homemade smash burgers, done properly on the grill, alongside poutine, chili, chicken burgers and tenders, unique sides and ice cream for the full summer-day programme. Seating is an outdoor patio in the park — bring the dog, because patio pups get their own water dishes — and the whole operation runs on Facebook and Instagram updates rather than a fancy website.

Its busiest, happiest day is Wednesday, when the Gravenhurst Farmers’ Market fills the same park and a market stroll can end, as it should, with a burger and a patch of grass by the lake. Hours shift with the season and the weather, so check its social pages before making the trip. Small stand, big appetite: Burger Boys is proof that some of Muskoka’s best meals come without walls.
