The Muskoka Wharf Marina is Gravenhurst’s front porch on Lake Muskoka, run by the town itself. This is where visiting boaters tie up in the heart of the historic Muskoka Wharf: two genuinely public docks (A and C) welcome transient boats for daily stays, while three gated docks hold seasonal slips so in demand that the waiting list has been closed. Three boat launches, a fuel dock selling non-ethanol gas, parking and washrooms round out a proper working harbour.
The setting gives it soul. The marina sits inside the 89-acre Muskoka Wharf development, built on a historic lumber-mill and boat-building site and anchored by A.P. Cockburn Square, named for the founder of Muskoka steamship navigation. The neighbours are landmarks: the RMS Segwun, North America’s oldest operating steamship, boards nearby, as does the Muskoka Steamships & Discovery Centre, and in season the farmers’ market and the Dockside Festival of the Arts fill the grounds.
For boaters, it’s the natural arrival in Gravenhurst — fuel up, tie up, and walk straight into a century of steamship history. For everyone else, the public docks are simply the best seat in town: a working harbour where the big lake still runs the schedule.
