Peninsula Trail

Muskoka-1-1030×592-1

The Peninsula Trail is Gravenhurst’s quiet shoreline stroll, a gentle lakeside loop of about 2.3 kilometres on the northwest corner of the Muskoka Wharf property. Most walkers start behind the Residence Inn or slip in off the wharf boardwalk, and within minutes the marina bustle gives way to mulch paths, boardwalks, paved and gravel stretches, exposed granite and a few stairs, with gazebos, benches and picnic tables scattered along the way.

The views are the reward: lookout points open over Lake Muskoka and back across the Wharf, and there are spots along the shore where you can slip into the water on a hot day. Just off the main trail, the Children’s Memorial Gazebo sits on the water’s edge — a peaceful, reflective little detour. The whole walk takes under an hour at an easy pace, and locals will tell you sunset is the magic hour, when the light goes gold across the bay.

Practical notes: the trail narrows in places, one marshy section sometimes needs a detour, and deer flies can be enthusiastic in August. None of that dims its charm. It’s the walk Gravenhurst keeps for itself — short, scenic and right at the water’s edge, in every sense.
