Gravenhurst Community Market

Gravenhurst has two weekly markets, and Sunday belongs to the makers. The Gravenhurst Community Market sets up at Cockburn Square at Muskoka Wharf every Sunday from late May to early September (May 31 to September 6 in 2026), a younger, artisan-first counterpart to the town’s long-running Wednesday farmers’ market.

The rule here is handmade: arts and crafts must be made by the vendor selling them, with preference given to Muskoka-area producers and makers. Stalls mix baked goods, flowers, honey, prepared foods and produce with bath and body products, home goods and original artisan work — the kind of market where you meet the person who made the thing you’re buying. Its motto keeps it simple: “Eat. Drink. Shop.”

Run by a volunteer board and a market manager, it’s a community stage as much as a marketplace — local groups like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muskoka, the Lions and Rotary clubs and Therapeutic Paws set up alongside the vendors to meet the public. With the steamships down the boardwalk and the lake at the end of the square, a Sunday stroll through the Community Market is one of the Wharf’s easiest pleasures.
